Downoading Data through our User Interface

A brief guide to using Atlas AI's UI

Download Layer Data

NOTE: to see all the open access datasets, a user must have verified their email after signup.

To download layer data:

  1. Add desired data layer to map using the ‘Add Layers’ button.
  2. Select desired year(s) and aggregation level using the drop down menus provided in the data pane.
  3. Zoom into region of interest using the +/- buttons on the right side of your window.
  4. Click on ‘Bounding Box’. Set a bounding box around the area of interest. See the section below for a detailed explanation of the bounding box functionality.
  5. Click on ‘Download Raster Data’ / ‘Download Vector Data’ (You will see the ’Download Raster Data’ option if you are downloading unaggregated pixels, and the ‘Download Vector Data’ option if you are downloading aggregated data).
  6. You will receive an email with a link to your download when it is ready.

Bounding Box Functionality

In order to set a bounding box, you will first need to click on ‘Bounding Box’ on the top-left of your window. Click once in your region of interest to start creating a bounding box and then drag your mouse horizontally and vertically to create a bounding box of desired size. If you want to move your bounding box, select the box by clicking inside it, and then move it using your mouse. To restart making a bounding box, click on the ‘Bounding Box’ option again. You can delete a bounding box by selecting the bounding box and then pressing the 'Delete' key on your keyboard.

The coverage of your downloaded data will depend on the aggregation level you have selected. This is explained in the table below.

Aggregation Level Explanation Bounding Box Selected Coverage of Downloaded Data
Pixel You will obtain a raster dataset covering all districts intersecting the bounding box.
District You will obtain a vector dataset covering all districts intersecting the bounding box.
State You will obtain a vector dataset covering all states intersecting the bounding box.
Country You will obtain a vector dataset covering all countries intersecting the bounding box.
